Reduce business waste costs after lockdown

Is your business looking to reduce waste and save costs after lockdown? Have you had to make changes to your sites, offices or suppliers which has impacted your waste needs?

Our team is here to help. As businesses across Devon and Cornwall are adapting to the new normal, we are too.

We offer flexible collection days and cost-effective options for your waste containers.  Our flexibility and consolidated waste services mean we can support you through change while also managing your hazardousdryliquid and confidential waste sustainably.

Supporting businesses out of lockdown

Overnight, Coronavirus started to shut businesses down temporarily. We made it our job to contact our customers to find out what waste management support they needed. We organised last-minute collections and contacted different contractors to update them of any changes to their services.

One of our valued customers is our long-term partner, St Austell Brewery, who we’ve been working with to achieve Zero Waste to Landfill status.

With Cornwall’s hospitality industry temporarily on hold, the Brewery asked us to act quickly to remove bins and adjust collections for their distribution centres. We offered guidance as regulations changed, ensuring that waste was being taken care of safely during the lockdown. We also saved costs by condensing containers.

Once we heard the announcement that restrictions were easing, we put a system in place so that we were ready to mobilise to meet the company’s demand.

Patrick Gribbin, Head of Property at St Austell Brewery said: “Cornwall Waste Solutions responded brilliantly following the closure of hospitality on 20th March 2020. All waste and venerably located bins were cleared and removed from sites. A great level of support was maintained throughout this period and continued through into the reopening of our sites on 4th July.

Falmouth’s popular St Austell Brewery pub, The Chain Locker, reopened 4 July.

Whatever the weather

As you know, businesses across the South West are now getting back up and running, and we are ready to manage waste in the new world of work.

For St Austell Brewery, that means more outdoor waste being collected in pub gardens and weather dependent trading hours. Let’s hope we have a sunny summer so everyone can enjoy eating and drinking out and about again!
